Don't worry! This is NOT another diy infinity scarf tutorial. I'm over the infinity scarfs everywhere, aren't you? This is a simple one yard project that produces a pretty flannel scarf. Make a stack and hand them out this winter! They are inexpensive and warm. They would make great donation gifts and hostess gifts.

Supplies needed:

sewing machine and threads to match fabric (you can sew by hand if you don't have a machine).
1 yard flannel fabric... (do not buy the flannel from the baby department. Go get yourself some flannel from the apparel department. It's thicker and you'll get a bigger, warmer scarf. Plus it has a wider yardage).
1 yard of tassel trim in a complementary color.
scissors. Rotary mat and rotary cutter optional.

Directions:

Cut your flannel in half lengthwise so you have two equal pieces.
Put the right sides together and sew one short end (5/8 inch seam allowance). Now you have one looooong piece.
Set your needle to stitch along the left side of the foot. So you get a wider seam allowance. Now simply stitch up each long side of the scarf, pressing the center seam flat when you get to it so your scarf remains smooth. This stitch is here so your flannel can fray but not unravel the scarf. I used a small 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Now pull some extra threads from each long raw side to get your fray started. I didn't pull a ton. It will fray more naturally over time.
Last step. Sew on your tassel trim. Pin the tassel to the front side short ends of the scarf. Again, since you will be stitching it you don't need to worry about including a hem... it may fray (who cares) but it won't unravel. I folded the trim ends over the backside about 1/2 an inch. Sew in place, keeping the stitch set to left or use a longer stitch and stitching up the inner edge of the trim.
