handknit hand warmers

handknit hand warmers

I’m an extremely slow knitter, so thank God these are so easily made. They are knit flat so you don’t need to worry about knowing how to work in the round. You literally knit up a rectangle and sew the seam together to create a tube. If you can create a knit and a purl stitch… you’ve got this! Also, it doesn’t take much yarn!

SUPPLIES:

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cast on 44 stitches leaving a long tail (size small women + teen) Increase in even numbers as needed to make a larger size.

  2. K1, P1 - repeat to row end

  3. Continue every row exactly the same for 45 rows, or until you get the desired length.

  4. Bind off

  5. Fold the piece in half lengthwise and use yarn tails to sew the seam closed. The cast on end is the wrist end, the bind off end is the finger end. Leave 1 1/2 inches open about 1 1/2 inches up from the bind off end for your thumb opening.

  6. Pull the tails back through the seam to hide, cut off excess yarn.

  7. Repeat

Don’t worry when you get done and they look very thin… They stretch a bunch!

Enjoy!
